In June of 1974 the world changed. I was born. My
parents were the typical hippie type folks. So I guess I would call that a
blessing; mainly because of the fact that if it weren't for them, I probably
wouldn't have the musical influence I have now. I love music, I believe God
gives us talent to do certain things, but He also places people in our
lives, including our parents to help bring it out. So I thank God for my
talent and my folks for brainwashing me into loving music like The Beatles,
The Rolling Stones, Kiss, and so many countless others. I think that maybe I
was always destined to be into the hard rock side of music. When I was 7 and
8 years old, I had every Kiss record ever put out at that time all on vinyl
of course. Man, I would do just about anything to have those now. Anyhow,
that's kind of how it all started for me with the music side of it. I had a
decent childhood. It sucked at times and sometimes life was hard to
deal with, but I'm here now. I've always been on the "husky" side. Husky,
that's what my grandmother would always say to the dude at the clothing
store when we were buying jeans for me. "Yes sir, we'll take those
ones over there." What size would you like Mam, "husky?" That always
embarrassed the crap out of me, but then I was young and too ignorant to
realize that no one gave a crap if I was fat or not. People loved me
more being fat anyway. I just couldn't ever get any chicks. Now, that
doesn't matter. I'm fat and sexy. Who cares. Not only that, I'm in an
awesome rock band and everybody knows that if you're in a band, fat, fine,
ugly, or skinny makes no difference, chicks dig it man. I work well in front
of strangers. I love to play live. I love what we do. I also have to mention
that just because someone is in a rock band, that doesn't mean that they
can't know Jesus. Now I'll be the first to admit that I don't act like a
Christian sometimes, but I am. I believe that Jesus died for all of the
world, for everybody no matter what they've done. So anyway, I love this
band, I love my family and friends. I love our fans, and most importantly,
yes, I love Jesus.

I wasn't sure what to expect
from Chrome, and it didn't take long to find out. Chrome
let their music do the talking for them, but vocalist Jason Voth
helped out as much as he could. This guy is a riot! This band calls
Woodville, TX home, and they brought a good crowd out to support
them. Their cover of the song, House Of The Rising Sun was
fantastic. Chrome's style and sound is that of a good time,
party rock band.
Chrome came out
energized and rocking hard! These guys have come such a long way in
a short time. In the last six months, they have literally risen
through the ranks of the local scene, and they are on the verge of
being a prime player to the scene. Lead singer, Jason Voth,
had the crowd working for the band! Everything he could say or do to
talk with the crowd, and get a response, worked. Jason strapped on
the guitar for the songs, Handle On It All and Synthetic
Soul, so you knew these songs would rock, and they did! Sign
Of The Times was an original song the band wrote as a tribute to
Rage Against The Machine, which solicited numerous cheers from the
crowd. See The Sun, a brand new original song by the band,
closed the show. A great crowd was on hand to support these guys.
Chrome were third. This was their third time in the third
spot of a round, and the previous two rounds turned out quite
well for them. Would the third time be the charm to get them to
Dog Jam? They opened up with Smoke It and Roll It, but
they should have opened with Synthetic Soul, which
happened to be their second song of the set. This song is
catchy, rocking, and everything a hard rock single should
be...impressive. Handle On It All started off a little
mellow, but the song picked the beat up nicely by the middle of
the tune. Their best response of the night came when the band
played Sign Of The Times (A Tribute to Rage Against The
Machine), which is a song, of their own creation, dedicated
to the late, and highly influential group. The second best crowd
response for the entire night.
